Not yet a deadline option to allow cancellation by user, but it's in the todo list for a future version.
Can't tell you yet exactly when i will work on this option, but maybe for upcoming 4.0 version planned for October.

Exactly, as not yet coded.
This only way is to disable manually cancellation per event just the day before the start date of the event.
Or with custom code, you can hide cancellation button with a custom theme pack or view override.
