When i create a table in the description field, I can't get it to display a border a around the cells even though I set it to display one. Any ideas?

You are using iCagenda 2.1.4 a too old version
It is today 3.2.12, with many enhancements since you current version.
So, do a backup of your website (secure recommendation in case of a problem) and then, upgrade your iCagenda.
There's no more table css styling in ic_rounded theme pack, so after upgrade, you won't have this issue if you have set border in your content.
