[ROADMAP] Category Filter in Frontend was created by delphin150
Hello together,

I have got many events in several cateogries to be displayed in the frontend.
Is it possible to filter the categories in the frontend?
I can´t find any option to do this.

For our visitors it is very hard to get all events regarding a special category.

Thanks for you support!

Greetings,
Marco

Hello Marco,

This is in the roadmap to add filtering by category in frontend, but it's not yet developped.

But it's something i will try to add in the next 1/3 months.

Best Regards,
Cyril

Hello Marco,

Sad to hear this is not an option already existing!
Mainly because of the description you uploaded to the Joomla extension directory and where is stated this feature already exists in ICcalender. To bad, NOT YET :-(

I searched every where for a Calender funtion with option to filter the event list on categories
Thought I found one based on the description in J.e.Directory and now it seems a non-existing future!

Is there a quick "bypass" to create a group by function for the event list based on categories?
Already copied the module for the calender 6 times to have the 6 categories in different calanders, but the event list (based on the component) can not be copied?

Look forward to hear a solution on short notice for this great extension, WITH a more filter possibilities

@wijnanda :
Hello,

Sorry, but your are mistaken about the options.

The display of the main list, as describe took the form of a list.
The options for this list are in the menu item options, where you could find filters by categories, oreder, selection of the theme pack, number of events...

THe options exists in backend!

This is for frontend that the active filters don't exist yet, but are in the roadmap.

Sorry for the confusion in the JED description (your the first person to tell me that) but i agree i can edit it to be more clear ;-)

In all cases, a release 3.4.2 is in process, so i will check this description to be sure no one else is confused.

ABout frontend filters, some work are in process to allow this.
I will try to do my best to add at least the category dynamic filter in frontend list in the next month.

Thank you for your comprehension, your patience, and your report of a wrong understanding of the description on the JED. I will improve it later!

Best Regards,
Cyril

Hello Cyril,
thnx for your speedy reply. Yes, I found the filter option in the backend for a solution with submenu's, but I got the impression - based on the description in JED - the frontend filter already existed. I'm looking forward to the next release with the front end option on filtering on category.
and some more filter option after that.

It is always a menace how to present a large data-set in a way "all" visitors can find what they are looking for. Some people look at the type of event, others look for an event nearby and some of our visitors are looking for an event at a particular community center. So front-end filter...YEAH... ;)

Keep up the good work and I wait till the next release before making endless sub-menu's
