[VIEWED] multilingual site was created by vanbrel
I need a multilanguage event component for joomla 2.5. I installed icagena - and it works well in german. Then I have installed an xml-file for joomfish - now I can see all the data in the backend, I can translate and publish and so on - but in the frontend there is nothing to see.
have a look: www.kreative-ideen.de/en/events.html

Maybe there is also a workaround to use icagenda in a multilingual site

Thanks for any hint!

In fact, i don't have work yet on Joomfish, as i was waiting for 2.5 version (which seems to be ready now).

Currently, iCagenda is multi-languages ready only for Joomla core multi-languages.

About Joomfish, i didn't have check yet their developper documentation.
I think it just need an xml file. But too a php file maybe ?

Can you share your own xml file for iCagenda, we can maybe see together to make it works, and so share this with other users ?

Latest version : iCagenda 3.9.8
We recommend every user to keep iCagenda updated.
Don't forget to have your Joomla!™ up-to-date!

Do you like iCagenda?
I would appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to post a review on JED (Joomla Extensions Directory) .

Hi

and thanks for your reply!! I prefer to work with joomfish as it is much more comfortable than the build-in core multi-language. And normally it works without problems as well for 3rd part elements.

I made 2 xml-files - one for the categories and one for the events: here they are:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<joomfish type="contentelement">
<name>Icagenda</name>
<author>vanbrel</author>
<version>2.5.1</version>
<description>Definition for the Icagenda component</description>
<reference type="icagenda_category">
<table name="icagenda_category">
<field type="referenceid" name="id" translate="0">ID</field>
<field type="titletext" name="title" translate="1">title</field>
<field type="text" name="alias" translate="1">alias</field>
<field type="text" name="desc" translate="1">desc</field>
</table>
</reference>
<translationfilters>
<published>published</published>
</translationfilters>
</joomfish>

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<joomfish type="contentelement">
<name>Icagenda</name>
<author>vanbrel</author>
<version>2.5.1</version>
<description>Definition for the Icagenda component</description>
<reference type="icagenda_events">
<table name="icagenda_events">
<field type="referenceid" name="id" translate="0">ID</field>
<field type="titletext" name="title" translate="1">title</field>
<field type="text" name="alias" translate="1">alias</field>
<field type="text" name="desc" translate="1">desc</field>
<field type="text" name="language" translate="1">language</field>
</table>
</reference>
</joomfish>

both files are short and simple and in the backend everything is fine.

so if you have any idea: you are welcome

regards
vanbrel

This may be a problem with language.

But do you have create too a php file as : www.joomfish.net/en/documentation/develo...-of-content-elements

?

Currently i won't have time to test joomfish, as my test websites are configured for Joomla core multi-languages.
But when possible, i will install new joomla to test Joomfish, and try to create files to use iCagenda with JoomFish.

Keep in touch ! B)

Hi

thanks for the link - now I understand that I need such a"translationfilter-php-file". But the link you sent is very old. the new joomfish has an absolute different file structure; the translationfilter-files are now somewhere in joomla/libraries.

And I'm not a developper - just a webdesigner. Can someone create the needed php file for me - a reasonable payment is o.k.

Tks

I will do it for free, and for all, but it's better to wait the 3.0 release of iCagenda declared as stable, as i'm re-doing all the code ! B)

The main "problem" is that JoomFish is not Joomla 3 ready, as is iCagenda 3.0, but it should be possible to create this file for Joomla 2.5 first.

About 3.0 beta tests, i will deliver in one week for Pro users, a beta 2. But currently, no major bugs in the new iCagenda, so i hope to deliver the stable version at the end of June. ;-)

Thanks for your patience ! :)

As soon as RC version is ready, i will have a look to find the last documentation about joomfish. I think it should be easy, but i have to llok if iCagenda is compatible (i think it is, as iCagenda is using standard data names, and similar to com_content).

I will keep you informed on this post ! ;)

Hallo

thank you very much again; Pls excuse that I would like to ask you for another favour - it's about the interim solution I tried and which doesn't work properly. Only if you have the time please look at these pages:

www.kreative-ideen.de/fr/calendre.html here you see 2 testevents (same in german)

www.kreative-ideen.de/en/events.html here you only see 1 event (I have no idea why the second one is not to see / if you want I can send you by email the data of an administration account to see yourself).

But the main problem is: switching from one language to the other is not possible anymore when I'm on the event-details page. Is this normal or is there a mistake from my side?

Enjoy your sunday!

Hello,

Access to admin to have a look is reserved to Pro users (advanced support) B)

About your events, how do you have set language for each ? (all, german, french ?)

About switching language in frontend, on an event view, it's normal because of the current coding of iCagenda : same model view for list, details and registration.
So changing language return to the associated menu (not to the view) (this is the same for blog view of com_content, the switching is for menu.)

Maybe it could be different with Joomfish, but as long as i've not tested it, i can't tell you ;-)
