How do I prevent a person from signing up for the same date and time slot as someone else?

I have an event on August 2, 2014 that has 10 tickets. Starting from 10:00 am through 3 pm.
Each time slot is scheduled at 1/2 intervals. 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, etc.

As a test, I had "Eva" sign up for the 10:30 am time slot on August 2nd, 2014. After "Eva" signed up, I had another person sign up for the same 10:30 am time slot on August 2nd, 2014.

As a result of the calendar letting this happen, I have 2 (two) people signed up for the same 10:30 am time slot.

Is there a way to prevent this? Either by responding with a message stating this time slot is already taken or by showing on the drop down that the time slot is not available.

Please advise.
