[ROADMAP] image Alt Tag empty was created by bobfreeman
Hi I am testing a joomla 3.x site which uses the iCagenda plugin and as part of the process is to conform to the UK's The Equality Act 2010 (EQA).

The recommendation is to allow people who are visually impaired to pass the web page content through a text reader that reads web pages and returns the audio version of the page.

The EOA recommends ask that all images on the site have text to describe the image in the images Alt Tag. This is not a problem when the image is placed in an joomla article or joomla module however when you place an image in an event in iCagenda there is no way to insert text into an Alt Tag.

Is there any way that I can add text to images Alt Tag used in events?

Hello,

This is not yet available in the current version without code modification, but it is something i have planned to work on, when the 3.6.0 release i'm working on will be ready.
At this moment i will check all that could be done to improve accessibility.

Thank you for your patience, and don't hesitate to report me all accessible issues you find, so that it could help me to improve all this! (hope by the end of the year, or at later, in first months of 2016).

Best Regards,
Cyril

Hello,
Nothing new for 3.7.10 ! Files defaut_day.php or ic_rounded_day.php and probably others, still contain alt = "" which causes an error for SEO parsers.
Best regards,

J.-L.

Hello,

You're right, i've forgotten to work on this part...

In fact, i've planned to add customizable image tag for next serie 3.8, but for sure the empty tag is not good.

I will add the image name as alt tag content for next release 3.7.11!

Attached a version with this change, if you want to test it.

Best regards,
Cyril

Hello,
Calendar thumbnails still have empty alt tags. While the current version is advertised as WCAG compliant, there is still no option to add alternative text when creating an event. Could this be fixed in an upcoming update?
Best, Ola

Hello Ola,

Currently, the Alt is set in module to empty (as decorative) but it's planned for next version 4.1 to add Alt options (and captions too when in event details view) for images.

In iCagenda 3.9.x, Joomla 3 was still supported, and not offering the same system as in Joomla 4 and next.

But with version 4 of iCagenda, starting with 4.0, i will be able to improve much more areas of iCagenda.

So, for images, this will be done on component side in 4.1 (and so, will be re-used by the calendar module as well.

Thank you for your patience! Many other improvements on their way!

Best regards,
Cyril
