[IN PROCESS] Event List Permissions was created by gsellers
I'm currently evaluating iCagenda for a project I'm involved in. In reading through the forum, I've seen a couple of references to something similar to my issue; but have been unable to confirm if it is the same issue and it's current status.

The environment specifications

Joomla 2.5.8
PHP 5.3.13
iCagenda 3.0.1

As a test, I have added four events. Two events have access set to one group of users; the other two events have access set to another group of users. The permissions for each group are distinct and do not have any crossover.

On the front end, I have a menu item using 'list of events'. I have also placed the 'iCagenda - Calendar Module' in a module position on the same menu item page.

When logging in as a user in one of the two groups, the 'iCagenda - Calendar Module' presents only the events applicable to the permissions of the current user (correct access). The 'list of events' menu item always presents all events regardless of the users applicable permissions (I'm assuming incorrect application of access).

I was hoping you could confirm this is a defect; along with the anticipated timeframe to release a fix.

Hi!

Yes, this was a bug introduced in new coding of version 3.

A fix is ready. I'm working on some few things and testing (first step in optimization of thumbs) and i think i will release this new update before this sunday ;-)

Latest version : iCagenda 3.9.8

I appreciate the speedy response. I can't speak for anyone else looking for the fix, but I'll treat it "conceptually" as fixed; so even if it doesn't make it into the Sunday release, I'll know it's slotted.

I know you had made additional effort in order to make iCagenda Joomla ACL compliant; I was curious if you had been able to correct this issue at this point (or if it is still viewed as part of the product's core functionality). I'm at a point that I need to decide whether to keep the product or find something that is ACL compliant.

Hi Greg!

I don't have forgotten your case, but i was busy with adding security, and solving an issue, as in developpement, fixing some bugs, and Pro support.
The problem is still the same : i don't have any problem myself with ACL front-end.
And since more than one month, nobody report me such a problem.

Today, don't have time to reproduce your configuration, and i think it can be lost time, as not sure to have all the needed configuration, and else...

If you have possibility to have a link online (and not local) and an access to admin, there, i will be to speed up to see the issue...
This may be not possible for you, as i've already ask you, and no answer...

But, i've changed in some places the way access levels is controlled (don't think this could change something for you, but as sometimes things are mysterious...)
So, could you test with last release 3.1.7, the new options to display information, google maps, and so on... in Global Options of the component. You will find ACL options.

So, can you try to set them to see if it has an effect in front-end ?

If it is working for this new options, the problem can come from the SQL request to display the list of events...
So, without a look in context, i can't do nothing...

Thanks for your feedback! B)

Based on your response, I updated the code to 3.1.7; unfortunately the doesn't correct the ACL problem on the front end. Just to be sure you and I are "talking" about Joomla ACL the same way; my understanding would be, if properly executed, one should be able to restrict front-end viewing access to content based on assigning Viewing Access Levels. Only users who belong to a User Group covered by the Viewing Access Level would be able to view the content. Currently, on the front end, all users can see all content within iCagenda. As I've indicated previously, I utilize the existing user/user group/viewing access level (ACL matrix) not only on Joomla core articles, but also for content generated by multipe different extensions, without issue.

I go through this because you mentioned "in Global Options of the component. You will find ACL options." Clearly, nothing in "Global Options" would provide the necessary granularity to provide access restriction at the content / user level. I just wanted to make sure that you understood that I am specifically talking about front end content viewing.

I have sent you an email with a URL and login credentials; hopefully it will help you figure out what needs to be corrected.

Yes Greg,

I have well understood your issue.

And get your email too! (great to be able to have a look directly online now!)

I'm busy with next releases the 3 or 4 days to come, but just after, i will log in on your website, and check all this! (and in this way, i'm sure to find the reason, and fix it!)

Keep in contact! B)
