Event export to Outlook: Missing Time was created by evilfranky
Hi guys

It's me again :-)

When I export an event to Outlook, the time information I set during the creation of the event is not showing in the icagenda.ics:
BEGIN:VCALENDAR
VERSION:2.0
PRODID:iCagenda
METHOD:PUBLISH
X-WR-CALDESC:
X-WR-TIMEZONE:UTC
BEGIN:VTIMEZONE
TZID:UTC
X-LIC-LOCATION:UTC
BEGIN:STANDARD
DTSTART:00001130T000000
TZOFFSETFROM:+0000
TZOFFSETTO:+0000
TZNAME:UTC
END:STANDARD
END:VTIMEZONE
BEGIN:VEVENT
UID:37
DTSTAMP:20150204T095608Z
CATEGORIES:Jahresprogramm TV 2015
DESCRIPTION:Fotos zum alljährlichen Sportweekend findest du in unserer Gale
 rie.
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20150228
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20150301
LOCATION:Skipiste
SUMMARY:Sportweekend
URL:http://tvschupfart.ch/vereinsinfos/events-2015/37-sportweekend
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR

This leads to an incorrect event time in Outlook!

When I manually add the following times (07:00 to 19:00) everything works as expected:
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20150228T070000
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20150301T190000

EDIT
After further investigations I discovered that this behaviour is in fact related to the "hide time" event setting.
Strange is that in Google calendar it does not matter if "hide time" is set or not, but in .ics the time is only set without it.

My investigations:

1. set hide time in event setting and have an event on one day from 07:00 to 19:00
outcome:
google calendar: correct event from 07:00 to 19:00
outlook: incorrect event from 00:00 to one day before 00:00
yahoo calendar: incorrect event from 00:00 to 01:00

2. do not set hide time in event setting and have an event on one day from 07:00 to 19:00
outcome:
google calendar: correct event from 07:00 to 19:00
outlook: correct event from 07:00 to 19:00
yahoo calendar: incorrect event from 07:00 to 08:00

Conclusion:
Only Google calendar works for me as ecpected! In my opinion it should show the correct time of the event in all the calendars all the time despite of the setting of the hide or not hide event time!

EDIT END

Kind Regards

Frank

BTW: In the event settings I set: hide time

Hello,

Yes, it's true that i need to improve this code, which was provided by a contributor.

I have already improved a few things, and it was working well for months, but it seems that since a recent time, it's not always working as expected.

So, some tests and improvements to be done soon. ;-)

Regards,
Cyril

Hi Franck,

Thought my last changes in 3.4.0 had solved issue...

Will check again...

With which dates settings do you have an issue ? (could you attach screen shot of the settings for dates ?)

Regards,
Cyril

Hi Cyril

The problem seems to be still there (I am using Version 3.5.5).
The problem occurs when I set a start-date and end-date with a specific time and choose hide time. I added some pictures with the settings and the output in outlook and yahoo. With Google calendar it is working correctly!

Kind Regards

Frank

Hi Cyril

I tested with your new Version - Still the same behaviour. Except the time in yahoo calendar has changed from former: 00:00-01:00 to 07:00-08:00 (see attached file)

Edit: At least it seems to be ok now with Yahoo calendar if the time is not set to "hide" in the settings!

Kind regards

Frank

Hi!

I'm not able to reproduce the issue with ics file and iCal...
But, i don't have outlook.

Is it possible to have an online link to an event where you have issue with outlook, so that i can test if the ics file is working with iCal ?

About Yahoo, i think i'm almost there about dates, something may have changed in their API needed for sure the "Z" after time in datetime construct (which was not needed before, as for gcalendar)
Will do some more tests tomorrow with yahoo, to see if it's alright with the changes.

And it's true that i will keep time, because all day are not always well manager when using exportation...

Regards!
Cyril

Hi Cyril

Thanks for the new version.
Good job, It seems to work now! I tested outlook, google and yahoo calendar with one day events and events with more than one day! Even if I hide the event time in the given event, it will be shown correctly in the calendars.

But there seems to be an issue with connecting to the yahoo calendar:
It takes now very long to connect (with the original 3.5.5 it took only a few seconds!) and sometimes it is hanging and will never open the yahoo calendar!

B)

Kind Regards
