Hello,
I've been using the callendar module and component on an intranet website I have designed for my company. We have one suggestion for an option, which is to set (either globally or in the category options - or both) a color for events taking place "today" and for events taking place shortly (like within the same week of the "today" date).

Or it could be that the users could specify the number of days after the "today" date to show the events taking place shortly.

I think at least in the calendar module, but it can probably also be used in the list events page.

Will keep it in mind in the future, when possible to work on such improvement, but you can set the "today" color in css for calendar
For example, add this line of css in your main site template css file, to do an override :
.ic_rounded.iccalendar table td div.style_Today {background-color: #666666 !important;}
Not tested, but should work!
