Hiya all,
After setting up my website on my local machine and doing all the testing I could. Happy with all, I uploaded to my Asia hosting, only to find that my listings on each page seems to be using the Asia timezone. Would be OK, except that I live in Australia. So I get events that are in the past. Its only about half a day, I know. Except that when the front page displays today's events. Is yesterday news. So I don't know if its to do with this awesome extension or some sort of setting I need to change in Joomla. Would love some help.
Many thanks.

As i've begin a enhancement in date management, you feedback could be useful.

Do you have set a time zone on your website ?

Joomla set to my local time time of Brisbane and I have also added a custom php.ini file with the date.timezone = "Australia/Queensland"
Under the Filters setting on the page options, I have set the Selection of events to Upcoming events or Events of the day and upcoming. Don't know what the different is, as it shows the same events.
Thanks

Date are saved in database as entered so as set to local time of the event.
And it is normal to let it as it is.
But, what could be an idea as a new option, is to be able to display (or not) date and time depending of the current visitor. B)

Upcoming events : events not finish or coming
Upcoming events + today : display too the events of the day, but finished (eg. we are 2013-08-30, 12:34. If an event is 2013-08-30 10:00, it won't be display in the first option, but will in the second one.

Hi mate,
I got the same problem. The server is in US but the timezone setting is Australia/Sydney.
It is 2014 Jan 1 in Australia but ICagenda calendar still in 2013. It seem it doesn't follow the joomla server timezone setting.
Any help?

Regards,

Hi,

Attached a new version of the module, which should display "today" day correctly depending on visitor timezone (and not server as before)

If you can test it, and tell me if it's working for 'today' day as expected ?

For information, i've planned to enhance all the dates system, to be able to use advance timezone settings, with possible to set a timezone for each event, different from Joomla Global config timezone, and future options for visitors to be able to see the date in their own timezone (double display option, as date and time set in event edit, is the local time of the event, not visitor's one)

Thanks!
And Happy New Year!
Lyr!C

Hi,

After months of trying different settings I still haven't found a solution to this problem. I can get the calendar to highlight the current day by using the setting the time zone to use Joomla and changing the Joomla global configuration server time zone to Brisbane - Australia. This doesn't make the listing of events start from current day even with the settings set to Today and upcoming events (note the date of the clock to the first event - attach file. The server is in another timezone also.

Cheers

Hello,

Today, a good detecting of timezone is done for calendar to set visitor timezone.

But in list of events, the date for today is using only server timezone.

In future, i've planned to add optionnal settings, and option for each date, to set individually the timezone (and of course, to be able to set a default one for all!))
But soon, i will add a timezone ajustement based on Joomla timezone set, to adjust the SQL request returning the list of events (this will be done in next release!).

All this is part of the long developpement on improvement for dates management, and since a few months, i'm recoding many parts of iCagenda to allow more possibility and flexibility.

Could you give me your menu setting for this list, and i will try to send you a "hack" (more easy today, as already a part of the job done for this improvement on timezone!) to do it and not having to wait the future release ;-)

Best Regards,
Lyr!C

Hi,

Many thanks for your response. The attached file is of the settings for the main events page. All the other tabs have default settings. Hope it helps.

Cheers

Hello!

Thank you for the settings!

I'm sorry, i was so much busy this week (and i'm away in Paris this week-end) that i wasn't able to finish the testing on integration of timezone to fix this issue.

I will do this next week!
I will keep you informed.

Best regards, and thank you for your patience! ;-)
Cyril
