You can use this plugin as a well working temporary solution. i'm using it for this website (www.joomlic.com) because, i'm using on it joomla core multi-languages, but with core joomla, it's not always to translate everything you want, and you have always to edit things 2 times...
For example, in title of module, or in some contents, i'm using this plugin.

I have tested recently jDiction, and it's a other wonderful tool for translation!
And file for jDiction will be soon integrated with iCagenda (i just have to do some more test with it).
