After installing the german translation, the frontend remains in english. There is no frontend folder in the language files, like in the US translation.
Have I made some mistake or there is no german translation for the frontend?

What do you mean by "no frontend folder in the language files" ?
Do you mean in the iCagenda translation pack for de-DE ?

Hi, I encounter the same issue. The first German language pack I downloaded had no frontend folder. Yesterdays download had one, so this is fine.
But it still does not show on the frontend.
I would enclose screenshots of the current issue, but I cannot.

Hello,
It seems one file was missing after last language packages generation for the German de-DE pack.
I will have to check why, as it is the second time this happens with this language.
I have regenerated the languages packs, and it seems ok now for de-DE.
Can you download it and install it to check if it's ok again?
