Automatic uploading of events from a list è stato creato da euevents

Dear friends,

Thanks to Joomla e ICAgenda we manage a huge website counting each year on thousands of events.

As you can understand the maintenance is pretty tough, given we also search for events. So we were wondering if there is any option to upload the events information from a list, in Excel or any other format. Or if such a list could be somewhere in the backend to be filled in progressively as the events arrive and be online in real-time.

Say the format should contain:
Title - Date - Category - Image URL - Description - Registration link - Address - Google Map - Agenda link - ETC.

PS. I am ambitious now: if developers intend to support us with this, we could guarantee a huge promotional campaign.

Hello,

Well, i don't see how this could be much more faster, as the work to fill the list would be similar than entering events in Joomla admin.
But maybe the reason is not-admin-users sending you a list of information for events to be added ?

In all cases, no such system for now, and the only way would be to use PHPAdming to manage addition of multiple data from a csv file... (but not easy regarding image url (should exist!) and Google Maps without using the script to set latitude and longitude...)

Later in the future i intend to work on such a system that could guide and help to import/export data (not a simple csv file import, but advanced system), but for now, not somthing i could see to develop before at least 1 or 2 years, as already so much "great" things to be done for iCagenda! ;-)

Thanks for your kind answer and don't you worry for the delay!

Actually, you are right that in terms of workload the process would not be simplified, but let me explain our intentions: in fact such an uploading system would allow us to process the events with partial information in the first place (title, etc) like some sort of placeholder and to complete them at a later stage. In fact, we handle thousands of events per year and often we have the information say NOW and we can publish them months LATER with a clear loss for our followers.

The site is www.eu-events.eu and we believe it is something you could be proud of in many ways. Would you help us with this issue, we will grant Joomla quite some visibility and popularity within our networks (check or numbers on social media!) in return for the care and attention towards our project. Yet, we believe we are something worth showcasing as a practical example of how far Joomla and ICagenda can get!

Thanks for your message and comment!

I'm glad about the success of your website. And i'm happy too for all users using iCagenda for their own website, little or big ones, as far as iCagenda helps them to accomplish what they want!

In the roadmap, there is a lot of things to be developped, and some major ones are in process.
I understand that for anyone the priority of one future function is prior, but the priority of each ones is nto the same for every user.

My goal is not to do a "on-request" development, but to keep all good ideas in the roadmap, and to work globally in the more logical way to deliver month after month the best extension as possible for any user of iCagenda.
Each user of iCagenda is important! And for this reason i work hard for all the community of iCagenda's users, and not one by one.

Of course, i provide a more advanced help and support for users with a pro subscription, and sometimes do some little specific development (using plugin) to allow some specific behavior, but even if a pro user, i won't work on this specific request of a csv importation (which one as you descrived it, is not really clear... as you can still create events in Joomla admin without having them published and/or approved... So why not simply use this system ?... :-|

)

I think you can manage this without a specific csv import (using status options) as the Joomla system allows it.
Or i may be wrong by not understanding exactly what you mean... (that could happen of course! :-)
